  • Middle School - Research college and focus on your dream of playing college soccer

  • Freshman/Sophomores - Research and Connect

  • Junior/Senior - Connect, Visit and Complete Process

Recruiting Timeline and Actions by Grade

8th Grade - Research colleges online, take visits to campuses while you are traveling to new places, start to learn about your likes/dislikes.

Some factors to focus on:

  • Distance from home

  • Urban or rural campus

  • Big or small school

  • Level of soccer program and intensity/time requirement

9th Grade - Research colleges online, discover new schools in your state or region, take campus visits while you are traveling for vacation or soccer events.

  • Start to build a list of schools you have interest in pursuing - shoot for 50-100 schools to learn about. Be sure to have reach and safe schools on your list!

  • Plan to attend 1-5 ID Camps to get familiar with the process and coaching staff at schools you have an interest in learning more about. 

  • Create social media specifically for recruitment purposes, add videos of games and training, and treat it like you are marketing yourself to coaches.

10th Grade – Continue to research colleges, trim list down to about 50 schools of interest. Take campus visits and tours, schedule through admissions office.

  • Email these college coaches before events and showcases, follow coaches on social media, attend games or watch on tv/live stream.

  • Get as familiar as possibly with the schools of interest and soccer programs.

  • Attend ID Camps for 1-5 schools on interest.

11th Grade - Continue to research colleges, trim list down to about 30 schools of interest. Take campus visits and tours. Schedule through admissions office or coach.

  • Email these college coaches before events and showcases, follow coaches on social media, attend games or watch on tv/live stream. Email once every couple of months with updated film or game schedules. Follow up is key!

  • Get as familiar as possibly with the schools of interest and soccer programs. Focus on biggest factors of interest, location, academic offerings, ability to play soccer at school, roster size, positional needs, where does coach recruit?

  • Attend ID Camps for 1-5 schools on interest.

 

12th Grade - Continue to research colleges, trim list down to about 15 schools of interest. Take campus visits and tours. Schedule through admissions office or coach.

  • Apply to colleges of biggest interest. Remember to apply to reach schools and safe schools.

  • Email these college coaches before events and showcases, follow coaches on social media, attend games or watch on tv/live stream. Email once every couple of months with updated film or game schedules. Be sure to follow up with coaches.

  • Get as familiar as possibly with the schools of interest and soccer programs. Focus on biggest factors of interest, location, academic offerings, ability to play soccer at school, roster size, positional needs, where does coach recruit?

  • Attend ID Camps for 1-5 schools on interest.
